Sporting Events: Choose from the Orlando Magic NBA Team, The UCF Golden Knights College Football, The Orlando Predators Arena Football, The Florida Classic College Football Game, the Capital One Bowl, the Champs Bowl, the FUNAI Classic, the Bay Hill Invitational, or watch the Atlanta Braves or Tampa Buccaneers do their spring training at the Disney Wide World of Sports.

  • The Orlando Magic: The Magic is Orlando’s own NBA basketball team, and they play from the end of October until April at the TD Waterhouse Center, a large arena located in downtown Orlando, a 20-25 minute drive from the Disney area.

  • UCF Golden Knights: This football team belongs to the seventh largest university in the country, the University of Central Florida. The Golden Knights play from September through December at the Citrus Bowl, located about 20 minutes from the Disney area in southwest Orlando.

  • The Orlando Predators: The Predators are Orlando’s arena football team, playing January through June at the TD Waterhouse Center in downtown Orlando, and a 20-25 minute drive from the Disney area.
  • The Florida Classic: The Florida Classic is a college football game between two rivals, Florida A&M University, and Bethune Cookman College. Both colleges are historically black, and that makes the Florida Classic the largest historically black football game in the nation. This year, the game will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2006.

  • The Capital One Citrus Bowl: This game takes place every year at Orlando’s own Citrus Bowl, typically between January 1st and January 3rd. There are numerous events leading up to the game, such as a major parade and concerts, and the teams that play in the bowl are determined by the winner of the Big Ten Conference and the South Eastern Conference of college football teams.

  • The Champs Citrus Bowl:This game takes place on December 29th each year at the Citrus Bowl in southwest Orlando, where the winners of the Big Ten square off against the winners of the Atlantic Coast Conference.

  • The FUNAI Classic: Held at the Walt Disney World Magnolia Course, this tournament brings together 144 of golf’s best pro’s and amateurs for the PGA Tour’s tournament. This year the FUNAI Classic will be held Oct 19-22, 2006.

  • The Bay Hill Invitational: Recently renamed the Arnold Palmer Invitational, this golf tournament is held at Bay Hill Country Club, a prestigious club near Universal Orlando. This year the event will be held on March 12-18, 2007.

  • Atlanta Braves Spring Training: If you’ve ever been to one of the Braves’ spring training games at the Wide World of Sports, you’d almost never know that it wasn’t a real game! Watch the Braves face off against all of the major league teams Beginning on March 1 through April 1 right here in Orlando at Disney’s Wide World of Sports!

  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers Spring Training: Spring training for the Bucs takes place at Disney’s Wide World of Sports from the end of July through the middle of August.
